NBC Environment

Furthermore Marketing was contacted by NBC Environment because they had need for a method of showcasing a case study to highlight the company’s skills. Our creative process began with the suggestion that this takes the form of both an animated explainer video and a press release, to which we ensured every element seamlessly blended corporate professionalism with the complexities involved in falconry bird deterrents.

The project

The primary objective of this project was constructing a method of relaying detailed information from a complicated case study, provided by NBC Environment, and turning it into an easily digestible show piece for the company.

This method took the form of both a written press release and the production of a short, yet hard-hitting animated video to show how NBC Environment managed the bird population during the decommissioning of the Schooner and Ketch offshore installations.

NBC Environment has 28 years’ worth of experience in this niche sector and needed a way of easily conveying what it is they do with this wealth of experience. As such the narrative of this video was designed to instil the weight of this experience, the efficacy of the company’s solutions, as well as their environmental mindset.

How we helped them

To craft these informative resources, we used in-depth information provided by the client. This was crucial to the narrative, ensuring the technical aspects of this project were preserved. To elevate this information, we also spoke to industry experts to gather additional facets for the story that we need to convey, as well as our team’s own research on the subject matter.

Reputation

Using these resources, our PR team developed a concise and informative press release, aimed at highlighting the unique achievement of NBC Environment’s falconry programme, enabling the decommissioning of the platforms. We brought in key statistics as evidence of their work, as well as quotations from key people involved in the project to provide further insight into the project’s success. By filling it with lots of key details and standout quotations, we made it as favourable a press release as possible for industry journalists to pick up, enhancing the reach of the story for the client. We then managed the distribution of the press release to our extensive industry mailing list, which was then followed up with, to ensure the piece was widely published.  Following the press release, we were able to draft a compelling storyboard for use in an animated explainer video.

Real-world references

Drawing from the scale of the offshore equipment, the location and implementation of NBC’s bird management role, we animated elements such as installations and marine vessels to give a sense of scale to the numbers and statistics to reinforce the videos narrative.

Designed by data

We stayed true to design principles, utilising smooth transitions, balanced compositions, and a colour palette to suits the offshore setting. The use of bold red text, yellows of the platform graphics, superimposed with real-life images and videos of the installations. Our design choices were motivated by the facts, data, and industry expert’s knowledgedue to the importance of the information that we needed to impart through this media.

Communicating complicated ideas

To maximise the videos impact, it was uploaded to NBC’s website, YouTube, and various social media platforms. To make the animation as memorable as possible we signed off the video with a powerful call card, featuring the company logo and delivering a clear call to action. This was all designed to etch the explainer into the minds of the viewers and impress upon them NBC Environment’s both effective and innovative solution to a very real problem affecting the offshore industry.

Testimonial

“The video is excellent. The pace of the production is good, the use of moving graphics to support the narrative is excellent. I felt engaged with the piece from beginning to end. The data is basic and well-presented does not overload me and having only watched it once, I can recall the main numbers and the effectiveness is apparent. The use of actual footage shows this was a real event not just a desktop exercise. I am very proud to have taken part in the project and contributed to the vid.”
